The Kirinyaga region itself is one of the areas where coffee cultivation is seen as a long-term commitment to quality and the landscape. Local farmers who bring their cherries to the Kianamui station work in conditions that are ideal for coffee trees— high altitude, fertile soil, and a stable climate allow the cherries to ripen slowly and develop complex flavors. Harvesting is done by hand and only at optimal ripeness, so that only the best fruits are processed. Great emphasis is placed not only on the quality of the beans themselves, but also on sustainable practices and support for local communities that are closely linked to coffee cultivation. The washed processing method gives this coffee its typical purity and clarity. After harvesting, the cherries are carefully sorted, pulped, and then fermented in water, which helps to bring out the natural character of the beans. This is followed by slow drying on raised African beds, where the coffee is regularly checked and turned to ensure even and stable drying.
